Welcome to the official website of the study comparing planned caesarean birth with planned vaginal birth

This is the first long-term study directly comparing the health outcomes of women who request caesarean section for their birth, with women who plan a vaginal birth. Participants are asked to complete e-mail questionnaires during their pregnancy, and after the baby is born.

You are eligible to participate if:
  • This is your first baby
  • The baby is head-down (not breech!)
  • The placenta is not low
  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • There are no other complications with the pregnancy (such as pre-eclampsia or diabetes)
